From The Cairns Post, our local daily newspaper :
"When it comes
to the battle of our beaches, one stretch of surf and sand is waves
ahead of the competition, according to The Cairns Post's readers.
Hundreds
of voters turned to www.cairns.com.au to have their say and more than
one third of them agreed that Trinity Beach is the region's top
beachfront spot....
At Vasey Esplanade, where Trinity's suburban
streets converge with the tourist mecca on the shoreline, locals weren’t
surprised to hear about their victory yesterday.
Gordon Kean started his restaurant L'unico at Trinity Beach in 1994. "There's a particular energy down here," he said.
Locals and visitors favour the idyllic beach for its calm waters, flanked by headlands at the northern and southern ends.
And
on a clear day, the picnic tables and free barbecues along the beach
create the perfect gathering ground for family and friends.
Just
north, Clifton Beach was voted the region’s second favourite beach with
28 per cent of the votes, and Kewarra Beach was a distant third.
The region's tourist magnets, Palm Cove and 4 Mile Beach, landed towards the tail-end of the online poll."
