The Great Barrier Reef
The number 1 thing to see and do while in our beautiful region is The Great Barrier Reef. It is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World and quite simply an amazing experience that you will never forget. There are many companies that do trips out to the Great Barrier Reef, a few of our favourites are Ocean Freedom, Reef Magic, Big Cat Green Island Cruises and Quicksilver.
Kuranda
The village of Kuranda is nestled in the rainforest in the mountains behind Cairns and is the gateway to explore the Atherton Tablelands. A fantastic way to access Kuranda is by Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Railway. A popular tour is to travel up the mountain side past waterfalls on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, spend a few hours exploring the attractions, including the Butterfly Sanctuary, and then back down on Skyrail Rainforest cableway over the top of the rainforest canopy. We have several tour options available for Kuranda and loads of information on the Atherton tableland at the Tour Desk.
