PALM COVE HOLIDAYS
Palm Cove has long been a favourite holidays destination for the well-heeled. Trinity Beach has retained a slightly more tropical undeveloped charm, but Palm Cove and its close proximity offer a great alternative for visiting and enjoying restaurants and other facilities.
Cairns International Airport is serviced by Qantas, known for its quality as a long-distance carrier. If you're coming from North America or Europe, it's going to take you a whole day to get here, so a 1-week trip is not enough! However, after checking travel-booking websites, such as Expedia.com, it's obvious that booking a 2-week trip is not significantly more expensive than a 1-week trip. From Los Angeles, New York, London, or Frankfurt, flight/hotel packages averaged about $3,000 (USD) per person, for 12 nights, in 3 and 4 star hotels (that's in June, and December was slightly cheaper). Backpacker hostels are available and cheaper, with a chance to share accommodations with other explorers. Bed & Breakfasts also abound.
Nearly all of the attractions provided by Tropical North Queensland can be scheduled and booked right here in Trinity Beach, or from Palm Cove, and the packages are all quite affordable. You can get a magnificent view of rainforests, waterfalls, and Aboriginal cultural parks, on a Kuranda train and sky rail day trip. How about a guided, 1-day, wilderness safari (off-road) in a 4-wheel-drive? Really rough it, on foot, with a backpacking trip into the rainforest. You're going to see trees, such as the red cedar, and plants that are now merely fossils in other parts of the world. You're going to see all kinds of exotic animals, birds, and fish. You're going to see sites that the natives saw 40,000 years ago. But, you get served gourmet food and wine, and you get to come back and sleep in a luxurious room at the beach! Modern life has its privileges...
